Family
The Brunners have been in the Philippines
since October 2000. Currently the Brunners are seeking to
provide leadership and stability to Calvary Baptist Church
of Pili. They are rejoicing in the spiritual growth of the
members and decisions that a number of young Christians
have made to faithfully read the Scriptures and become part
of the church.
August 2008 - Mission Update
Dear
Praying Friends,
“
In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold
not thine hand; for thou knowest not whether shall prosper,
either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike
good ” (Ecc. 11:6).
We
have done a lot of sowing over the summer months. How thankful
we are that the Lord has allowed us to reap in the morning,
afternoon, and evening! Much
of the reaping at our fifth annual singles' retreat occurred
in the morning during the devotional time. Unbelievers find
it difficult to know what to do at this time, so their believing
friends and the workers used this time to share God's wonderful
plan of salvation. Please pray that Sir John Ramos and Christian
Bogayan, who accepted Christ and live near Calvary Baptist
Church, will grow and become a part of the Calvary youth
group.
May
19-23 was VBS week. We sowed at Calvary in Pawili, Pili
in the morning, and at Victorious Faith Baptist Church in
Caroyroyan, Pili in the afternoon. Between 90 and 120 attended
each morning at Calvary and 20-30 children and teens attended
at Faith each afternoon. We praise the Lord for children
and youth who were saved that week and for several parents
who made professions of faith during the closing programs.
We
were greatly blessed June 12-15 to have fellow Baptist World
Mission missionary Dr. James Norton with us for revival
meetings. He was a great encouragement and challenge to
us personally, and God greatly worked in many lives! Each
afternoon the Lord gave us great opportunities to see professions
of faith, and in the evening services we saw people, for
whom we have prayed for several years, trust Christ as Savior!
How we long to see the Lord prosper us with lasting fruit
for His glory, but He has been faithful to us morning, afternoon,
and evening!
We
desire your prayers for our upcoming events:
1.
Four times a year we host Bob Jones Memorial Bible College
's (BJMBC) Continuing Education for Pastors (CEP) for the
six Bicol provinces. Pray that these one-week block courses
will greatly help and encourage these pastors.
2.
August 6 Dennis Tolentino and I will begin Bible institute
training for the members of Calvary and Victorious Faith.
We will hold classes each Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m.
(Prayer meeting is Thursday evening.) We are encouraged
by the interest of the church members—especially the interest
of our young men!
3.
We plan to begin our fifth Netcasters' soul-winning course
on August 17. Pray with us that souls will be saved and
that the saints will be equipped!
4.
Our fourth annual marriage retreat will be September 20.
Pray with us that each of our couples will grow in love
for the Lord and for each other! Phil and Mila Kamibayashiyama
(GFA missionaries) will be our special speakers.
May
we all sow each morning and evening, and may the Lord greatly
prosper each one of us according to His will. Thank you
so much for your faithful prayer and financial support!
