Outreach Ministries
“Let
your light shine before men in such a way that they may see
your good works, and glorify your Father
who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Thank you for you interest in the Outreach
Ministries of Calvary Baptist Church. Jesus exhorts us in
Matthew 5:16, “Let
your light shine before men in such a way that they may see
your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” While
the church is a place for developing close spiritual relationships,
it is also called to reach out and reveal Jesus Christ to
the community and to the world (Matthew 28:18-20). The Outreach
Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church emphasizes the equipping
of the saints
(Ephesians 4:12-16) with the message of salvation through
Jesus
Christ, and the exhorting of the saints to share that message
in word and deed (Colossians 4:5-6).
The Means of Equipping
A vital aspect of the Outreach Ministry rests in developing
the ability in the saints to be seeking “gospel moments” – that
is an occasion to present the gospel to others. Another vital
aspect of the Outreach Ministry rests in developing the ability
in the saints to clearly present the saving grace of Jesus
Christ to those who do not know Christ as their personal Lord
and Savior.
By equipping the saints through our Adult Bible Fellowships,
Calvary Bible Institute, and Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary,
the Outreach Ministries of Calvary Baptist Church seek to make
our church a unified community with a heart to reach the lost
with the gospel message.
The Means of Exhorting
Our faith in Christ does not rest in
merely understanding what Christ said, but who He is. Even
throughout the gospels,
Christ
exhorted his followers to know him (John 8:24; 11:25). When
Paul wrote “that I may know him,…” (Philippians
3:10) he was not simply expressing a desire to know the teachings
of Christ, but to understand who Christ is by what he has done
- for Christ was always at work (John 5:17).
In the same way, the Outreach Ministries of Calvary Baptist
Church seeks to make our community a part of our church by hosting
Community Health Clinics, extending personal invitations to special
events (Vacation Bible School, Special Sundays, and seasonal
events), Sports Clinics, Prison Ministry opportunities, and through
many other evangelistic opportunities.
