Our Mission

Our mission as ministry is to assist individuals in the strengthening of family relationships. We acknowledge our dependence upon Scripture for the definition of the family and for the source of family values as initiated in Genesis 2:18-25.

Our Purpose

To strengthen the husband/wife relationship
To provide practical instruction that will help parents understand God's principles for parenting
To instill in parents the confidence that God's Word is sufficient for every challenge they will face
To cultivate long-term healthy adult relationships with our children
To facilitate discipleship relationships among parents
To promote an attitude of other-centeredness

Our Program

Growing Stronger Families is a discipleship ministry of Calvary Baptist Church started over twenty years ago. Each year dozens of families meet in small groups to study practical ways to apply God's word to their parenting. Our curriculum is based upon the Growing Kids God's Way model of biblical parenting, published by Growing Families International, and Dr. Paul David Tripp's Approach in, "Age of Opportunity". The material is developmental and age specific to meet common challenges that parenting in the information age brings.

The following courses are currently offered throughout the year:

Preparation For Parenting - A six-week course that aids new, or new again moms and dads in biblically welcoming that new bundle of joy, helping smooth out the common struggles of infants and their impact in the family.

Preparation For Toddlers - A five-week course that helps to transition you and your child from infancy to a busy productive day full of learning and adventure. The course helps parents establish good mealtime, daytime, and bedtime habits and expectations of behavior. Specifically designed for families with children ages 5 to 15 months.

Growing Kids God's Way - An eighteen-week study that offers practical steps to bring biblical principles into the lives of your children, without the use of manipulative means. This "core" parenting course addresses the changing attitudes, behavior, and the needs of your toddler to teen. The study is often taken multiple times by parents of growing families.

Preparation for Adolescence - The middle years are critical times of development for your preteen child. This six-week course builds upon Growing Kids and helps to prepare children for responsible living. When parents begin addressing their children's emotional, physical, and social changes, it can lead to a solid foundation to venture into the teen years.

Reflections Of Moral Innocence - An eight-week course designed to help parents formulate a strategy to deal with the abundance of information their children are exposed to regarding their physical development. Learn how to protect the moral innocence of your children while answering their "big" questions about birth and development.

Age of Opportunity - An eight week course that moves parents from a position of dread and survival to hope and confidence. The teen years can and should be some of the best years of parenting. Come and learn some timeless truths and practical strategies for parenting teens. Classes begin September 10, 2007.
